Myron T. Dagley joined the staff at Prairie Crossing Charter School in September, 2004.

Formerly, the Deputy Superintendent of Waukegan Community Unit School District #60, Myron retired from active duty June 30, 03 after completing 41 years of active public school experience. Mr. Dagley serves part time as the Director of Special Education for Prairie Crossing Charter School.

Mr. Dagley was awarded the BA degree in Psychology from Mac Murray College for Men, Jacksonville, Illinois in June of 1963 and a MA degree in Special Education from Illinois State University in August 1966. Further graduate work in Educational Administration was completed at ISU as well.

Initially a teacher of children with emotional disturbances, Myron began his professional career in August of 1963 as a teacher of emotionally disturbed children at Peoria’s Children’s Home. He began his administrative career in 1969 as Regional Director of the Mid Central Association programs, a cooperative serving 150 school districts in central Illinois spread across eleven counties. Serving in that capacity until June 1975, Myron then moved to the North Shore where he worked with the Low Incidence Cooperative Agreement until July, 1981. He became Executive Director of Dupage West Cook Low Incidence Association in Dupage County, the largest Illinois legal entity joint agreement where he served until moving to Waukegan, July 1, 1992.

During this long career Myron’s leadership was recognized by several professional associations of which he was a member. He was awarded the Illinois Jaycees Young Educator of the Year Award in 1968, named the Dave Berto Award recipient in 1988 by the Illinois Administrators of Special Education, and Honorary Bulldog Regimental Colonel by the Waukegan Jr. ROTC Corps in 2003 upon retirement in recognition of outstanding public service. That award now bears his name as it is given annually. Further, he was appointed to the Illinois Advisory Council on the Education of Children with Disabilities by former Governor Ryan where he served four years. During that time he chaired the subcommittees on Rules and Regulation and on Parent Relations and served two years a vice chairman of the Council.
